Well it has been almost two weeks since our first open day at the garden.
We had a wonderful afternoon and from the feedback we think you did too! Over fifty people attended, including many first-timers who have decided to join up as members.
We also had politicians representing all levels of government with Jenny Mulholland (Banyule Councillor), Anthony Carbines (State Labor), Jenny Macklin (Federal Labor) and Nick McGowan (Federal Liberal). Thank you to all who came and enjoyed the activities and great food.
Beekeepers Peter Castaldo and Barry Cooper gave a captivating talk and we are now looking into keeping some hives at the garden. Yummo! We think Jenny had as much fun as the kids learning how to look after bees and harvest honey.
There was also more fun for the kids with art and craft, a treasure hunt and a giant pile of mulch.
Hungry souls were catered for with Kerry and Ann’s asian green wok-off, a sausage sizzle and afternoon tea. All delicious!
Enjoy the photos taken on the day and we look forward to seeing an even greater turn out next year.
Well done Kate, you have done a great job of summing up the day.
